The Isle of Man: some believe it is near overrun with Faerie!
On today’s episode we cross the famous Isle of Man ‘Fairy Bridge’ and get to know the Household Faerie: Fynoderee. (There are various spellings of the name. I choose the spelling as used by Sophia Morrison in her 1911 book ‘Manx Fairy Tales‘. )
Large and with the strength of 10 men, the Fynoderee is kind-hearted, hard-working and loyal, a great asset to any farming family.
Sounds wonderful doesn’t it?
But best be careful, and don’t take him for granted, for he can be a prickly Faerie.
You may accept him into your home and family and live peacefully and productively for many years, but…
you must be ever mindful never to offend, ridicule or criticise him…
